“The Forgotten Flower of Izmir, Selluka…”

As the International Association of Women in Sustainable Development, we are undertaking a special project regarding Sustainable Agriculture in Izmir, with the slogan “LET NATURE GROW WITH YOU”, in order to revive the Selluka Flower, which has an important place in the cultural and natural heritage of Izmir but has been forgotten over time.

Our project aims not only to revive the Selluka Flower, whose seeds were brought by Cretan immigrants, but also to pass it on to future generations.

Within the scope of the LET NATURE GROW WITH YOU project, we bring together the seeds of the Selluka plant with our people and take steps together to bring this unique symbol of Izmir back into our cultural memory.

The Selluka flower seeds we plant on behalf of each individual who contributes to our project will both ensure the re-sprouting of our cultural heritage in Izmir and raise awareness about sustainable agriculture.
