Message from the President
Dear Supporters,
As the Association for Women in International Development (USKD), we have taken a big step towards building a more just, equal and sustainable world with the coming together of our 40 visionary female founders. These strong women came together with the aim of strengthening the social, environmental and economic foundations of sustainable development. These pioneering women, each specialized in different fields, united around a common goal to support and expand the role of women in development.
As USKD, we deeply believe in gender equality and equal opportunities and place these principles at the center of our work. Women having equal opportunities in education, business, science and politics is not only a matter of rights, but also a critical necessity for sustainable development. A world where women are equally represented and participate in decision-making processes is the guarantee of a more peaceful, more prosperous and more balanced future.
In this regard, we aim to ensure that women reach their rightful place in education, economy, social life and leadership positions by taking as our guide the 17 articles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With the support of our 40 founding members, we work with all our might to spread gender equality in all areas, to make women's voices heard and to ensure that they take an active role in shaping the future.
Women are the cornerstone of sustainable development. With this awareness, we develop projects, establish collaborations and strive to take this struggle one step further to empower women and ensure social equality. As USKD, we aim to create not just an association but a platform where women can shape development on a global scale.
I would like to thank our 40 founding members, all our volunteers who have supported us and will continue to support us, and everyone who believes in a sustainable future. Together, we will continue to take strong steps towards building a more just and inclusive world.
With love and respect,
Ayla Alkan
Chairwoman of the Board
